Description
A nostalgic black and white photograph of the popular British era tourist landmark, the Gateway of India in Mumbai. It depicts a monsoon scene with dark clouds, and captures a rare moment as pigeons occupy the entire promenade and a few of them fly out.
The Gateway of India was built to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Mumbai (then Bombay) in 1924 CE, designed as a grand ceremonial entrance to the city and became one of Mumbai's most iconic landmarks. With new barricading and throngs of visitors, this composition and flock of pigeons is now a rarity.
